But also patients born with a serious abnormality or chronic illness. What impact does this have on their lives and those of their parents? An insight into one of the largest academic children’s hospitals in the Netherlands. ‘Het Kinderziekenhuis’ will be shown weekly at 8:30 p.m. on RTL 4 starting Tuesday, June 4.

The Children’s Hospital

In the reality series “Het Kinderziekenhuis” we follow parents who stay with their sick children at the Wilhelmina Children’s Hospital or are admitted to day care. We see how doctors and nurses provide life-saving care to these young patients aged 0 to 18 every hour, every day, seven days a week. Patients who have suffered trauma, have chronic illnesses, or are life-threateningly ill. One thing they have in common; they are often shuffling between hope and fear at this stage of their lives. The patients and their parents are followed during difficult and poignant moments, but also when they leave the hospital happier than ever because they are doing better. The series also shows the enthusiasm of the care team, where the focus is on giving patients the best possible treatment and guidance. And where getting better and looking to the future is number one 24 hours a day.

Wilhelmina Children’s Hospital

The Wilhelmina Children’s Hospital in Utrecht is one of the seven largest academic children’s hospitals in the Netherlands. Every year, over 15,000 children are admitted here, 3,000 babies are born and 3,000 patients undergo surgery. In “Het Kinderziekenhuis,” the stories of these patients are told, but also those of the care staff in which we see, among other things, how doctors and nurses are trained and how scientific research can lead to groundbreaking results for the future in order to treat more and more children with hereditary and congenital diseases.

‘The Children’s Hospital’ is produced by Vincent TV Productions and will be shown weekly on RTL 4 starting Tuesday, June 4, 8:30 p.m.
